Since 2002, churches of the Bradley County Baptist Association have been partnering together to form response teams that can answer the call for help when disaster and crisis situations strike.  Teams have responded 25 times over the past 3 years to disaster situations.  Volunteer crews have participated in various ministries such as:

  • Chainsaw

  • Mass Feeding

  • Mud Out

  • Rebuild

  • Chaplaincy

A Volunteer Ministry:                                 Spring 2007 Newsletter

In the past 4 years over 400 volunteers have responded to many different disasters and many different states.  We have six area ministers trained in Nova Crisis Training to help counsel victims and families.  We have approximately 200 people trained for disaster relief and more who participate in the Gulf Rebuild partnership.

If you are associated with one of the Churches in the Bradley Baptist Association you can be a part of this exciting ministry.  There are two steps for you to complete.  First, you will need to fill out a volunteer team member application and send it to Tennessee Baptist convention and Disaster Relief.  In addition to filling out the Application you will need to go through Basic Disaster Relief training which is offered through the TBC.  Volunteer Applications and information on upcoming training events are available at the Association office and on the Current Events Page.

Equipment:

Through a generous gifts from several donors the  Bradley Baptist Association now has two mobile units that store chainsaws, generators, hand tools, ladders and safety equipment.  In 2007, the BBA Disaster Relief Ministry will see the addition of a Shower trailer unit.  This Trailer will not only contain shower stalls and storage facilities but will also house sinks, and a washer and dryer unit.

Support:

Bradley County Baptist Association Disaster Relief falls under the umbrella of the Tennessee Baptist convention and the North American Mission Board.  Our Disaster relief work is supported through the contributions and designated gifts of Churches, Organizations, Businesses and Individuals.  If  you would like to partner with us by making a donation to the "Bradley County Baptist Disaster Relief Ministry" you can do so by making your check out to the Bradley Baptist Association and marking it for this purpose.  Your gift will be well used and will make a difference in the lives of many people that are suddenly stricken by disaster situations.
